Finally here...

Well, after a long [rough, expensive, boring, exhausting] road trip we are finally in California. We are staying at my in-laws in their motorhome until our house in Tennessee sells.

As for the trip, some of my Mobile Blogging didn't work because our PIX service stopped working. I was able to get some of the pictures uploaded yesterday, but they showed up out of order on the trip. Oh, well. :)

We are leaving in a few minutes to unload the truck into Becki's grandparents garage -- which is going to be an adventure. As you can see from the pictures below, we ended up leaving a lot of great stuff behind [again]. This time it didn't hurt as much because my parents and Lori [my sister] were able to use the stuff we left. One of our couches, our kitchen table, our master bed, our BBQ -- okay, leaving the BBQ hurt a little. :D

I'm really going to miss Tennessee [especially my family] but I think this is the best move for my family in the long run. I'm looking for work in California [Sonoma and Mendocino Counties] and in Southern Oregon. I am still submitting applications for teaching positions in Tennessee, but after three years of doing that I sincerely doubt I will hear anything from them.

Anyway, that's the update for today. Thanks for caring! :D

Welcome to california!

Grrr...

So Jerry (my father in law) was driving the moving truck about 20 minutes ahead of us. We get to the California border and the border guards decide that they have to inspect the truck -- but he didn't have a key to the lock. They can't wait 20 minutes for us, so they use bolt cutters and take the lock off. When we stopped later that night we had to buy a padlock from a TA store -- so another $10 out the window. Anyway, at least we made it through and they didn't make us unload the truck.
